About Doug

Hi! My name is Doug. I am life-long resident of Elkhart County. After graduating from Concord High School and attending Goshen College I married the love of my life, Linda. Together we raised our four children in Elkhart County using both private and public schools. As grandparents to five grand-children, we enjoy the blessings they bring to our life!  My marriage and family will always take priority over work.

In the mid-70’s I began my career as a home builder working for a family owned company. When the opportunity presented itself, I struck out on my own and built several businesses from the ground up. Today, these businesses are sustained in no small part by being located in Indiana and in the  business-friendly  greater Elkhart Community which has been a great incubator for innovation and job growth. I am living proof of that.

I have been seated on the Builders Association of Elkhart County board of directors for many years. I hold a life directorship at the Indiana Builders Association, membership in National Association of Realtors and serve as the state representative for Indiana on the board of directors of the National Association of Home Builders. As President of the Builders Association of Elkhart County in 2003 and in 2011 as President of the Indiana Builders Association the opportunity to strengthen and define my advocacy skills for housing was refined and strengthened. For several years I have served as a member of the Area Plan Commission and the Plat Committee in Elkhart County while serving as chairman of the Board of Zoning Appeals.

My faith in God has sustained me throughout my life and my business success is a result of the talents that He has blessed me with. I  desire to serve others and give back to the community that has given me so very much.

I  will continue to fight to make sure that education tax dollars follow students, that remaining barriers to business and job growth are torn down and that taxpayers are able to keep more of their hard earned money.
